Fred Elliott’s Coronation Street actor, John Savident, passed away at the age of 86.
When John Savident made his Cobbles debut in 1994, he was instantly adored by the public thanks to his powerful voice from his role as butcher Fred in the ITV soap opera.
On EastEnders X, Stuart Antony was praised for his “deep pathos, combined with peerless comic timing,” and for being “lovely and witty.”
The actor’s representative said, “We are sad to announce the actor John Savident’s death, who passed away on Wednesday, February 21.”
All who knew him said that he was a devoted husband and father of two.
Andcher Fred’s tumultuous romantic history, which included three marriages and multiple breakups, was a mainstay of soap operas.
The episode featured an appearance by Steven Arnold’s hidden son, Ashley Peacock. As butchers, their friendship deepened.
In the serial drama, Audrey Roberts (Sue Nicholls) claimed that Savident brought her “joy” in life.

On the day he was supposed to wed Susie Blake’s Bev Unwin in 2006, Savident suffered a stroke.
Even though Audrey Roberts had turned down his marriage proposal years before, she had declared her love for him at his funeral.
In addition, the Battle of Britain actor starred in Gandhi, Yes, Minister, Corrie, and the upcoming Stanley Kubrick horror film A Clockwork Orange.
He appeared in The Remains of the Day, Doctor Who, and Middlemarch.
In October 1986, he made his Phantom of the Opera debut as Monsieur Firmin, the proprietor of an opera house.
He played the same part in the concert film at the Royal Albert Hall again in 2011.
He has two children with theatrical director Rona Hopkinson, his wife.
