The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader, Shehbaz Sharif, took the oath of office on Monday as the country’s twenty-fourth prime minister. The President’s House in Islamabad served as the venue for the event.
Chief of Army Staff Asim Munir attended the inauguration of newly elected President Dr. Arif Alvi.
When the oath was given, notable representatives of Pakistan’s main political parties were present. The PML-N, PPP, MQM-P, and IPP are a few of these parties.
PPP co-chair Asif Ali Zardari, PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, and PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif were among those present.
There were also the chief ministers of Sindh, Balochistan, and Punjab, Maryam Nawaz and Murad Ali Shah, respectively.
There were numerous ambassadors and diplomats in attendance from different nations.
The Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif was greeted with a guard of honour as soon as he took the oath of office.
Shehbaz was repeatedly re-elected on Sunday. He was appointed prime minister in April 2022 and served in that capacity until August 2023.
Shehbaz Sharif won 201 divided votes in the politically divided lower chamber of parliament, securing his second term as prime minister. The opposition candidate received 92 votes overall with the backing of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and the Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC).
Shehbaz’s victory was expected because he had the support of seven parties in addition to the PML-N. The PML-Q, MQM-P, PPP, IPP, BAP, PML-Z, and NP parties back the next prime minister.
According to official sources, the new premier will be hosted at the residence of Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar, who is now functioning as prime minister. On August 14, 2018, Shehbaz publicly welcomed Kakar to the Prime Minister’s House.
Kakar will stay on as CEO until the country’s next head of state is chosen. Its residence in the Minister’s Enclave was authorized.
