Penrith told AAP that Nathan Cleary has a minor hamstring strain.
In the final ten minutes of the Panthers’ 34-12 victory over Brisbane on Thursday, they replaced the standout halfback.
The 26-year-old’s level of agony became unbearable, prompting a scan.
Tuesday is when the Panthers will officially release their Cleary update.
We don’t expect him to play against the Sydney Roosters on Thursday, and he might not play against Manly on April 6.
After receiving a bye in Round 6, the Panthers are hoping that Cleary will be available for their first game back on April 20 in Bathurst against the Wests Tigers.

Brad Schneider, a former great player for Canberra, will start in the second half this week at Allianz Stadium, with Jarome Luai starting in place of Cleary.
A left hamstring strain that Nathan Cleary sustained during a close victory over St George Illawarra in June of last year prevented him from playing in the final two State of Origin matches. He needed six weeks to recover.
James Fisher-Harris’s shoulder ailment, which he is dealing with on a weekly basis, is another concern for Penrith.
Despite not having any serious ailments, the prop might not play against the Roosters after missing last week’s triumph over the Broncos.
Lindsay Collins, a prop with the Roosters, may miss Thursday’s match because of a minor hamstring strain.
On Monday, the Roosters disclosed Collins’ recuperation and Sandon Smith’s elbow injury.
The Roosters announced that Smith had suffered a “significant medial ligament injury to his left elbow” prior to halftime of Friday’s 48-6 victory over South Sydney.
After getting the all-clear, Roosters halfback Sam Walker will play against the Panthers.
The independent bunker doctor initially diagnosed Walker with a category-one head injury he sustained during Friday’s second half, leading to an 11-day absence.
After Walker’s injury was reduced to category two, the NRL chief medical officer has since added two more outside doctors.
