Actor Lee Sun-kyun, who starred in the Oscar-winning movie “Parasite,” passed away on Wednesday, December 27, 2023, according to South Korea’s emergency office.
It further stated that Lee’s body was found Wednesday near a car in a central Seoul park.
Before, the police had reported that they had discovered Lee unconscious in a secret location in Seoul.
Police were searching for Lee, according to South Korean media, including Yonhap News Agency, after his family discovered that he had left the house earlier on Wednesday and had scrawled what appeared to be a suicide note.
The South Korean authorities had earlier announced that the actor had been found unconscious.
Lee Sun-kyun was discovered unconscious at an undisclosed place on Wednesday, according to Seoul authorities; they did not release any more details.

Yonhap reports that the police recognized Lee Sun-kyun as the man who had been found unconscious in a Seoul park. Yonhap stated that Lee’s demise was subsequently confirmed. It said that under the passenger seat of the car was a charcoal briquette.
The role that Lee is best known for was that of the wealthy family patriarch in the movie “Parasite.” His work in the same film earned him a 2021 Screen Actors Guild award for “cast in a motion picture.”
His performance in the sci-fi thriller “Dr. Brain” led to an International Emmy Award nomination for him in the best actor category.
Lee Sun-kyun had a long history as a well-known face on Korean television before becoming globally recognized as Parasite. His part in the critically acclaimed drama series Coffee Prince (2007) helped make him well-known. Later, he became well-known for his roles in the medical dramas Behind the White Tower, My Mister (2018), and “asta (2010).
