Joan Laporta, the president of FC Barcelona, called Real Madrid’s hard-fought victory over Almeria at the Santiago Bernabeu over the weekend “a disgrace.”
After trailing two goals, Jude Bellingham’s penalty kick and Vinicius Junior’s contested goal gave Los Angeles a two-goal lead. Dani Carvajal’s stoppage-time goal guaranteed Madrid victory and the top-league position.
Almeria’s third goal, which would have put the score 2-1, was disallowed, and Bellingham was awarded a penalty kick. VAR was able to stop Vinicius’ goal.
Throughout the match, Madrid’s fiercest adversary, Barcelona, made fun of the team.
Board members and head coach Xavi Hernandez weren’t the only people who commented on the Whites’ exciting victory. Laporta described what happened at Bernabeu as a “disgrace.”

“What happened in Madrid was scandalous,” stated Laporta. The referee community must meet the expectations of this season. If they don’t cooperate, we will be worried.
Day by day, we are gaining strength. Due to the decisions made by the referees, we have been unable to score. The current season is wonderful, in my opinion. There is an increase in gang cohesion and strength.
Laporta proceeded by stating that Barcelona is unable to compete with Madrid this season owing to the partiality of the referees.
We’re content with the victory. Since we have the finest players, I believe we will win and that our opponents will learn from our errors. He said they put forth a lot of effort each day to win competitions.
In 2023, Barcelona faces charges of “continuous corruption in the sports field” and is believed to have bought off Jose Maria Enrique Negreira, the former deputy head of the Technical Committee of Referees.
El Mundo claims that from 2001 until 2018, Barca gave Negreira almost €7 million.
