Almeida won the main event of Saturday night’s UFC fight night in Sao Paulo by unanimous decision (50-44, 50-44, 50-45). For his fight against Derrick Lewis, Jailton Almeida had to shed thirty pounds, but the 265-pound fighter was outmatched.
Despite being one-sided, the battle was dull. Lewis was taken down multiple times by Almeida in the first 25 minutes, but even though he established multiple dominant positions, he was unable to finish the play. Almeida also did not inflict much damage.
According to UFC statistics, Almeida’s 21:10 control time broke the heavyweight record and placed him fourth overall. It was the most controlled time since Sean Sherk defeated Hermes Franca in a UFC Fight Night match in 2007. It has been sixteen years since the altercation. Sherk’s time of 22:18 in that match set a UFC control time record.

Almeida never lost by choice in her eleven years as a professional. The match is expected to conclude in 1300 minutes, according to ESPN BET.
After the fight, Almeida stated, “We were able to do that and keep him down and avoid his right hand,” through an interpreter. “I was touched, and I didn’t really feel it.”
Lewis, despite his proven ability as a UFC heavyweight contender, presented Almeida with the greatest threat. Almeida entered the fight ranked 10th in the world at heavyweight, according to ESPN.
Lewis may have gained weight in the days leading up to the competition on Saturday because his weight on Friday was 265 pounds. Almeida weighed 236 on Friday. He had great wrestling and grappling technique, but the bigger man’s superior strength prevented him from either submitting or TKOing him.
Almeida then issued a challenge to French fighter Ciryl Gane, the former UFC interim heavyweight champion.
Almeida (20-2) has won 15 straight fights and six UFC contests. Before Saturday night, the Brazilian fighter had won 14 straight bouts. When she walked in, Almeida, 32, had already earned three fight-night bonuses.
Lewis (27-12, 1 NC) has lost five of his seven fights. At UFC 291 in July, the Houstonian defeated Marcos Rogerio de Lima in just 33 seconds. Lewis, 38, has the most knockouts in the UFC with 14.
