An engagement has been announced between Jodie Haydon and Anthony Albanese, the Prime Minister of Australia.
Haydon was seen sporting the new ring in a picture that Albanese shared of the two of them on Thursday morning.
“Yes, PM wrote; she replied.”
Depending on the date, it might be the first Australian prime ministerial marriage.
On Wednesday, they celebrated Valentine’s Day with dinner at Italian & Sons in Canberra’s inner north. At restaurants for important occasions, set lunches run about $135 per person.
Albanese asked Haydon to marry him at The Lodge.
Albanese made the engagement ring, according to Guardian Australia.
The newlyweds said, “We are thrilled and excited to share this news and look forward to spending the rest of our lives together.” Our meeting was a blessing.
Foreign minister and Albanese enthusiast Penny Wong posted a thank-you message on social media.
Delightfully, my dear. Toast to another successful two years! Wong posted something on X.
The announcement was enthusiastically greeted by Ministers of Housing Julie Collins and Clare O’Neil.
In parliament on Thursday, opposition leader Peter Dutton expressed gratitude to Albanese and referred to Haydon as a “lovely person.” Dutton told 2GB about this discovery.
“I wish them every happiness and success because of their unique relationship,” he said.
“Acknowledgments, Anthony; congratulations to you and Jodie,” said New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon.
A 2019 Melbourne business dinner brought them together. NSW Public Service Association women’s officer Haydon resides with Albanese at The Lodge in Canberra. She attended a White House state banquet with Joe and Jill Biden with the prime minister.
Albanese: “I must say, I only have one regret about tonight, which is that I’m not quite sure how I top this for date night with Jodie at any time, anywhere in the future.”

It gets worse from here on out, my darling.
After twenty years of superannuation, Haydon joined the NSW Public Service Association. News Corp. reported that they started dating in the latter part of 2019. The keynote speaker, MC Albanese, teased his favorite NRL team, the Rabbitohs.
Amidst the cacophony, Haydon bellowed, “Up the Rabbitohs.” Afterwards, Albanese met the Rabbitohs’ defender.
Haydon says they connected on social media and became friends.
She said, “I slid into his DMs,” to News Corp. I knew we supported the same football team and were from the Inner West since he had a public profile, whereas I did not. I think what I stated in that direct message was, “Hey, we’re both single.”
Their cooperation enabled them to get beyond non-political obstacles.
When a Range Rover traveling on the incorrect side of the road struck Albanese in January 2021 in Marrickville, he came dangerously close to death.
Haydon recognized her fondness, while Albanese declared that the tragedy had made him “more determined” to become prime minister.
Before visiting Albanese at the hospital, she told 7News Spotlight that she had the worst feeling when she spotted his broken-down car.
“This can’t end well,” Haydon recalled.
“And that overwhelming fear of losing him?” I really, genuinely love him. And I think he’s awesome.
On the program, he was praised for his “kindness and compassion.”
“He is kind and thoughtful, but he respects me for being independent,” said the woman.
Former NSW deputy premier Carmel Tebbutt was married to Albanese. Their son, Nathan, is twenty-three.
