Former prime minister of the United Kingdom David Cameron became foreign secretary on Monday, reorganising Prime Minister Rishi Sunak‘s cabinet.
After Suella Braverman’s abrupt departure as interior minister, Cameron met Sunak in No. 10, his official apartment and office.
Cameron resigned as prime minister after leading Britain through the divisive Brexit vote from 2010 to 2016.
Sunak has attacked him on behalf of the conservative generation. In an October convention speech, Sunak—who dubbed himself the “change” candidate for the UK—criticised the preceding thirty years of political experience as well as two-thirds of a century of Conservative administration.

“We are facing a daunting set of international challenges, including the war in Ukraine and the Middle East crisis,” stated Cameron in a tweet.
“It is more crucial than ever for our nation to support our partners, fortify our alliances, and ensure that our voice is heard during this period of profound global change.”
Sunak is striving to retake power as his Conservative Party is behind Labour by more than 20 points in surveys ahead of the January 2025 national election.
Last week, rumours surfaced that Braverman had been fired after her Times opinion piece attacked London police for their suspected political bias in managing protests, defying Downing Street.
A former interior minister’s past is wild. Calling homelessness a “lifestyle choice” and sending asylum seekers to Rwanda is controversial.
After Braverman, former foreign secretary James Cleverly was chosen. Finance Minister Jeremy Hunt remains in office before the Autumn Statement next week. More cabinet reappointments are expected on Monday.
