Chelsea women’s football player Sam Kerr was charged by the Metropolitan Police on Tuesday with a “racially aggravated offence” following an altercation with a London police officer.

Authorities filed charges against the 30-year-old striker in January 2023. one of the most well-known and prosperous female football players.

The dispute was apparently sparked by a police officer’s handling of a “complaint involving a taxi fare.” According to AFP, Sam Kerr entered a not guilty plea to the Crown Prosecution Service’s accusations of engaging in racially motivated harassment.

There are legal penalties for “threatening, abusive, or insulting” others, including fines and jail time. UK media outlets covered her trial in February.

That occurred before the FIFA World Cup in Australia and New Zealand last year, according to recent reports.
