Aus vs Pak: Australia and Pakistan are now playing their first Test match in Perth.

Australia got off to two strong starts from their home team, David Warner and Usman Khawaja, and opened the first morning session of the opening day with a 117-0 score.

By halftime, Warner had scored 72 runs off of just 67 balls and had taken no wickets against the Pakistani bowlers. He scored six of eleven fours.

Khawaja needed five boundaries to be unbeaten after 37 runs.

When Khawaja was 21 years old, Abdullah Shafique got rid of him, preventing Aamir Jamal from taking his first wicket in a Test match.

Toss: Australia chose to bat in the opening Test match against Pakistan on Thursday in Perth after winning the toss.

Two of Pakistan’s fastest bowlers, Aamir Jamal and Khurram Shahzad, made their Test debuts.

Nathan Lyon’s return to the starting lineup was the only alteration made by Australia to the squad that took part in the August Ashes final at the Oval.

Though we’ve played a lot of cricket together, this year is particularly memorable. We have a decent record and play really well here. An Australian foundation with a high tempo. After winning the toss, Australia’s captain Pat Cummins remarked, “No secret [Nathan] is the main guy in our bowling line-up; great to have him back.”

Pakistan, who have lost all five of their Test series against Australia, will struggle to maintain optimism ahead of a three-match series that gets underway in Perth. The task facing the new captain, Shan Masood, will be even more difficult given the significantly diminished bowling unit.

Pakistan goes on to become the current world champions in Australia, led by Pat Cummins, having not won a Test match since late 1995, when over half of the current team had not yet been born.

Pakistan’s unpredictability makes it impossible to write off, but because of the turbulent run-up to the series, travelers find it difficult to return to Australia.

After the all-formats squad failed to qualify for the 50-over World Cup in India, Babar Azam resigned as captain, making Masood the new captain of the Test team last month.
