Australia vs. West Indies: Australia’s renowned opener David Warner made history on Friday in Hobart when he reached fifty or more in the first-ever Twenty20 International match against the West Indies.
With one, six, and twelve boundaries, the left-handed hitter quickly achieved 70 runs off 36 balls at a strike rate of 194.44.
In his 100th T20 International, he shared wickets for 93 runs with Josh Inglis.
Warner took on South Africa in his 100th Test match at Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) on December 20, 2023. He had two hundred in that match.
In the first inning, the southpaw scored 200 runs off 255 balls with sixteen boundaries and two sixes. Australia won the match with 182 runs in the first half.
At Bengaluru’s M Chinnaswamy Stadium in 2017, Warner scored 124 runs in his 100th One-Day International (ODI) against India. He smashed twelve boundaries and four sixes in the inning. Australia ultimately prevailed in the match by a total of 21 runs.
David Warner made history in Australia vs. West Indies match as the first player in each format to score 50 points or more in his 100th game. The Australian became one of the greatest players to play in 100 games across all competitions, ranking alongside legends like Ross Taylor of New Zealand and Virat Kohli of India.
Warner now aims to create history by becoming the second Australian player to reach 3,000 runs in Twenty20 international appearances. In 100 games played thus far, the 37-year-old has amassed 2964 runs, including 25 fifty-fives and a century. In 103 Twenty20 Internationals, he has scored more runs than any other player, including former Australian captain Aaron Finch.
