A trustworthy source says Jeremy Fowler the Chicago Bears traded cornerback Jaylon Johnson before Tuesday’s deadline.
The source informed Fowler that Johnson requested a trade after failing to secure a new deal with the Bears last week.
Johnson now ranks among the best players. Veteran defensive backs Kevin Byard and J.C. Jackson were moved this season before Tuesday’s 4 p.m. ET deadline.
The 49ers are reportedly interested in Johnson, who will be a free agent after this season.
The last-place Bears (2-6) could put their franchise tag on Johnson next year if they cannot move him.

Last week, Johnson told Chicago radio station 670 The Score that contract negotiations with the Bears were “starting to ramp up” but that “many different things can happen” regarding a trade.
Johnson, 24, has 18 tackles, two interceptions, and a forced fumble in six games in his fourth Bears season. The 2020 second-round pick has 143 tackles and three interceptions in 45 Chicago games.
‘You could tell he was enjoying it’: Jahmyr Gibbs sparks Lions on MNF
Detroit Lions rookie Jahmyr Gibbs sent a message to fantasy managers who have been doubting him all season after erupting for 189 yards from scrimmage on “Monday Night Football”.
“I’m tired of hearing it,” Gibbs stated from his locker room stall after Detroit’s 26-14 triumph over the Raiders. “My fault. My fault.”

Gibbs ran for 152 yards and a touchdown for 29.9 fantasy points without David Montgomery for a second week.
Pro Bowl offensive lineman Penei Sewell claimed the Lions “finally saw the real Jahmyr.”
“He was really comfortable out there; he looked like he had a clear mind and knew the game plan well, so to see him out there doing what he does best was honestly crazy,” said Sewell. “I didn’t know he was that fast, and he just makes it look effortless out there, and it makes us look better.”
Gibbs’ 11 first-quarter touches on eight runs and three receptions were the most since Christian McCaffrey’s Week 15. The Lions’ coaching staff tried to get him going early.
Gibbs had 31 touches and five receptions for 37 yards. However, the Raiders’ offence managed only 157 yards.
“It was fun, and it’s good knowing that your coach and teammates put that much trust in you,” Gibbs says.
Johnson Detroit Previous Week:
In the previous two weeks, the Lions’ run offence had only 124 yards. As Gibbs found his groove, Detroit ran for 222 yards against the Raiders (3-5).
Detroit is 6-2 for the first time since 2014, and quarterback Jared Goff termed Gibbs’ performance a “good little springboard” for the future.
“I think it was seeing him get into a rhythm,” Goff said of Gibbs. He worked hard on and off the pitch, so this was like, ‘Hey, we’ll keep giving you the ball.’ He may recognise defences and holes better and achieve astonishing space feats.”

Before its bye week, Detroit had the second-best NFC record and the fourth-easiest NFL schedule (.421).
Six divisional wins and five NFC North wins are Detroit’s longest streak since 1970.
After last week’s blowout loss to the Ravens, coach Dan Campbell declared the Lions had achieved “getting our identity back”.
He said the Lions refocused and trusted their approach before Monday’s game, including giving Gibbs more responsibility.
“We felt like there were some things that we could do, and we wanted to get Gibbs going,” he added. “We wanted to establish the run, and he was feeling it. His performance last week was his best, but his performance this week was even greater.
You could see his workload on and off the pitch, and this was like, ‘Hey, we’re going to keep giving you the ball.’ He may start recognising defences and gaps better and performing amazing things in space.”
