Birmingham manager Tony Mowbray is on medical leave

Birmingham-born Tony Mowbray has announced that he will be temporarily stepping down from his management role while he seeks medical attention. Mowbray is expected to be sidelined for a period of six to eight weeks. Mark Venus, the assistant manager, would be in charge of the first team during his absence.

The woman in her sixties stated, “I have received a medical diagnosis that will require me to receive treatment after my recent LMA Health Assessment.” In order to meet the requirements for rehabilitation, I will have to step down from my role as manager of Birmingham City Football Club.

Along with coaches Pete Shuttleworth, Ashley Cole, and Maik Taylor, my deputy manager, Mark Venus, will take temporary charge of the team until I return. Even though I am now receiving treatment, I will still be providing advice and recommendations.

My family and I are incredibly grateful for the amazing support the club has given us. I’m confident that going forward, everyone will respect our right to privacy.

Mowbray’s selection to replace Wayne Rooney in January has resulted in Birmingham playing eight games in all categories since his hiring. With four victories, three defeats, and one tie, the team’s record is as follows: Sunderland, the team he had led and which had dismissed Tony Mowbray in December, triumphed 2-1 in his farewell game.

According to Birmingham CEO Garry Cook, “Our prayers and thoughts are with Tony, his wife Amber, and their family.” We are happy to have Tony back at the club to carry on the amazing work he started, and we wish him a quick recovery. We are very much looking forward to his return.
