Kenneth Mitchell, a Canadian actor best known for Star Trek: Discovery and Captain Marvel, died suddenly from complications related to his ALS.
Mitchell, 49, posted a notice of his resignation on his verified Instagram account on Saturday.
“Kenneth Alexander Mitchell, beloved father, husband, brother, uncle, son, and dear friend to many, has passed away with heavy hearts,” according to a release.
The statement continued by stating, “And in true Ken fashion, he triumphed over them all with dignity and a dedication to living each day to the fullest.” “Ken suffered horribly with ALS for five and a half years.”
He advocated for having company all the time and accepting each day for what it is. In response, he draws on his personal experience to show how inclusivity, humor, love, and compassion can all lead to a happy existence.
The actor who played Kol-Sha, Tenavik, and Aurellio in Star Trek: Discovery appears to have passed away, according to the Star Trek website. In a statement, the group bemoaned his departure.
Also: “The entire Star Trek family sends their condolences to Mitchell’s family, friends, loved ones, and fans worldwide.
Mitchell played characters in Star Trek, Captain Marvel, and Jericho.
Mitchell allegedly asked for gifts for ALS research or in the names of his children on Instagram. The only surviving members of his family are his wife, Susan May Pratt, and their two children.
It is estimated that 5,000 Americans are afflicted with ALS each year, a disease that kills nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord. Symptoms, including muscle weakness, slurred speech, and difficulty walking, make it harder to breathe, speak, chew, and swallow.
