In a thrilling cricket World Cup 2023 match between the fierce Asian rivals, India beat Pakistan by seven wickets on Saturday at a packed Narendra Modi Stadium.
With 117 balls remaining, India easily defeated the 192-run mark they were pursuing, powered by captain Rohit Sharma’s 86 points.
The hosts earlier dismissed Pakistan for 191 runs in 42.5 overs.
Pakistan was chosen to bat, and with skipper Babar Azam (50) and regular batsman Mohammad Rizwan (49), they looked well on their way to a score of 300 or more. They were in the thirty-first over at 155-2.

However, India’s Mohammed Siraj dismissed Babar, causing a stunning collapse that prevented Pakistan from surviving for the remaining 50 overs of their allotted innings.
Their bowlers now have a difficult task ahead of them: reducing India’s potent batting order to a very low total.
India’s best bowler, Jasprit Bumrah, scored 2-19 with a masterful demonstration of his unique seam bowling style.
After recovering from dengue fever, India’s opener, Shubman Gill, will participate in his maiden World Cup game.
8-0 Record
India has never suffered a World Cup defeat versus Pakistan. There have been eight World Cup meetings between India and Pakistan, and all the times India beat Pakistan.
