Government and private educational institutions across Punjab were closed for winter vacations. The winter vacations in Punjab began on December 15. According to the schedule, all educational institutions were to open on January 1. However, due to the severe cold, the government extended the winter vacation until January 9.

All schools are closed until January 15. At the same time, there was also a proposal to open the matriculation-level classes and give more holidays to the remaining primary and second classes.
According to the third proposal, the holidays should not be extended further, and the schools should be opened conditionally.
Accepting the proposal, the government decided to open educational institutions across the province, as well as the hours of all educational institutions from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
All schools have requested that all parents send their children to school in warm clothes and limit unnecessary activities to protect children from the cold.
By following the guidelines below, you can protect both your child’s education and health
- Send the children to school in warm shirts and pyjamas under the school uniform.
- School-going children should wear a hat on the head, which will help protect the ears from cold air.
- Send the children in winter-appropriate shoes. Don’t wear open-toe shoes or shoes without socks.
- Do not allow children to go out of the house during school hours. Restrict non-academic and essential activities for the time being.
- Protect children from cold water and food.
- All educational institutions should install hot curtains on the doors and windows of the classrooms and arrange for proper lighting.
- Also instruct the riders taking the children to school to take appropriate measures to protect the children from the cold wind.
