Erling Haaland scored his first two goals at Old Trafford as Manchester City beat Manchester United 3-0 in a heated Premier League derby on Sunday.
The three-time champions under Pep Guardiola are third in the standings with 24 points, two points behind Tottenham Hotspur. United, who suffered their first loss in four matches across all competitions, are in eighth place with 15 points.
United had lost six of their previous eight matches against their local rivals, including a 2-1 loss in the FA Cup final during City’s treble-winning campaign last season, which equaled United’s 1999 feat.

It was the first penalty awarded to City in 27 Premier League trips to Old Trafford. The Norwegian striker calmly placed the penalty shot into the bottom-right corner.
City, who had lost their previous two away league games, dominated stunned United in the second half, and their bulldozer forward scored again shortly after halftime when Bernardo Silva made an overlapping run and then dinked a pass to the back post that Haaland headed in.
In the 80th minute, Phil Foden scored from close range after custodian André Onana blocked Rodri’s shot, which landed at Haaland’s feet for an easy cross to Foden. The goal drove many frustrated United supporters to the exits.
Hojlund was driven off the ball in a first-half breakaway after his costly foul.
Éderson then punched Scott McTominay strike late in the first half over the crossbar.
However, City had numerous opportunities of their own, including a header by Haaland that Onana stopped just before halftime.
