With his two kids at his side, American actor of German heritage Christian Oliver passed away very suddenly on Thursday in a plane crash off the coast of a Caribbean island. Oliver worked for thirty years as an on-screen partner for Tom Cruise and George Clooney.
Authorities said that at around 12:10 p.m. local time, Oliver, whose real name was Christian Klepser, and his kids were in a single-engine aircraft that took off from an airport in Bequia, a small island in the nation of St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
The Royal St. Vincent and Grenadines police force said that unexpected problems arose during the aircraft’s flight to adjacent St. Lucia. This was found shortly after the aircraft took off. Eventually, it fell into the sea.
After fisherman, divers, and coast guard officials gathered at the accident area, the military discovered the four remains of the fatalities aboard the aircraft.
According to the police and medical staff, Robert Sachs, the aircraft’s owner and pilot, Oliver, 51, and his daughters Annik and Madita Klepser, ages 10 and 12, were all declared deceased at the scene. Sachs, a native of Bequia, Oliver, and his kids were all killed. Their remains were taken by the coast guard to a nearby mortuary by boat, and an autopsy was set for Friday to determine the cause of death.
