On October 5, 2023, Imran Khan—the most well-known cricket player in Pakistan and a former prime minister—will turn 71.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, Khan’s party, has arranged special prayers outside the Adiala jail in an effort to ensure his safety. It has asked people to peacefully assemble at local mosques or outside the Rawalpindi jail complex tomorrow at 4:30 p.m.

The struggling PTI said that followers should commemorate Imran Khan by “doing what he does best—help others unconditionally!”

Khan served as the chancellor of the University of Bradford between November 2005 and November 2014.

The IHC had suspended Imran Khan’s three-year sentence on August 30, but the jail authorities had ordered him to be held on judicial remand in connection with a case involving a controversial US cipher by a special court recently established to hear cases under the Official Secrets Act. This was the reason Imran Khan remained in custody at Attock jail.

He has been actively involved in humanitarian activities as the founder of Mianwali, Numl College, and the Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital.

A cricket career

Khan played cricket for the national team for twenty years in the latter part of the 20th century. As captain, he guided Pakistan’s cricket team to victory in the Cricket World Cup of 1992.
