Real Madrid is the frontrunner to sign Bayer Leverkusen manager Xabi Alonso in 2025, as per an ESPN story on Friday that quoted anonymous sources. Alonso has decided to remain with the German team for another year.
Because Thomas Tuchel and Jurgen Klopp had announced that they would be leaving their positions at the end of the current season, both Bayern Munich and Liverpool were keeping a watch on Alonso.
Xabi Alonso decided to remain with Leverkusen despite interest from prestigious clubs across the globe after an incredible season in which his team is still competing in all three championships.
Xabi Alonso is leading Leverkusen in their quest for the triple title. They are in the DFB Pokal semifinal, 10 points clear of Bayern in the league, and they will take on West Ham United in the UEFA Europa League quarterfinal.

ESPN reports that Madrid intends to pursue Alonso in 2025 and that, given their shared history, they are hopeful the Spaniard will decide to sign with them.
Alonso’s previous affiliations with Bayern Munich, Liverpool, and Real Madrid raised expectations. Carlo Ancelotti’s contract renewal with Los Blancos was recently confirmed, although the Bavarians and the Reds were the overwhelming favourites to recruit the Spaniard.
According to CEO Carro, the Spanish star has a contract with Leverkusen that runs until 2026, and the German team is eager to honour it as they get ready for the next season with the former Real Madrid player.
Carro stated to MARCA, “He has a contract until 2026, and we are planning the next season with him at full speed.” Nothing suggests to us that he won’t remain by our side.
“He is currently the best coach in the world on a coaching level.”
