The Indian Under-19 team won the toss and chose to bowl first in the first semi-final of the Under-19 World Cup against South Africa, contested at Willowmoore Park in Benoni.
In the allotted 50 overs, the South African team scored 244 for the loss of seven wickets; Lhuan-dre Pretorius (wk) scored the highest score with 76 on 102 balls. Richard Seletswane, who scored 64 on 100 balls, and Juan James (c) scored 24 on 19 balls.
For India, Raj Limbani took the most wickets, giving away 60 runs in his nine overs. He bowled three players, Musheer Khan took two wickets, and Naman Tiwari and Saumy Pandey clicked one wicket for the Indian team.

When India batted, their first three wickets had fallen for 25 runs. But Udhay Sharan’s unbeaten 81 and Sachin Das’s unbeaten 96 helped the Indian team achieve the target in 48.5 overs for the loss of eight wickets. The highest scorers by the Indian team were Sachin Dhas and Uday Saharan (c). Sachin Dhas scored 96 on 95 balls, while Uday Saharan (c) scored 81 runs on 124 balls.
For South Africa, Kwena Maphaka and Tristan Luus took three wickets each.
The second semi-final of the ICC Under-19 World Cup will be played between Pakistan and Australia on February 8 at the same ground. The winner will play against India in the final on February 11 at the same ground.
