IPL auction 2024: In advance of the forthcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) season, mini-auctions will take place in Dubai on December 19. The ten Indian Premier League clubs, with limited resources, will run rigorous computations to determine which player group makes the most sense. The teams would need to consider several aspects, chief among them the stark disparity between the supply and demand of players, with a special emphasis on finding skilled Indian players.

The list of released players raised some eyebrows because the teams would want to bid heavily to acquire the top talent now that certain crucial players are available. On Tuesday, 333 players will be put up for auction, with ₹250 crore set aside to buy 77 seats.
Let’s look at each team’s anticipated bid approach for the Indian Premier League auction in 2024.
1. Chennai Super Kings:
The defending champion Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will spend ₹31.4 million in an attempt to strengthen their squad. Ambati Rayudu, a talented batsman, will chase Manish Pandey for the middle-order batting position, which Pandey seems like a good fit for. In addition, Shardul Thakur gets freed before the auction; CSK would be happy to have their greatest bowler returned, particularly in light of his recent successes for India.
2. Gujarat Titans:
With the return of skipper Hardik Pandya to the Mumbai Indians, the team will need to make some difficult choices. It will be challenging to replace Hardik Pandya because, throughout his two seasons there, he made sure the team performed well. They will enter the mini-auctions with a ₹38.15 crore purse in the hopes of acquiring some top players, including Azmatullah Omarzai, Shardul Thakur, Rachin Ravindra, and Daryl Mitchell.
3. Delhi Capitals:
Despite the team’s serious skill concerns, fans are eager for captain Rishabh Pant to return after an injury prevented him from playing in 2023. With a budget of 28.95 crore, the squad would try to add some experienced players like Priyansh Arya, Harshal Patel, Shardul Thakur, Jos Inglis, and Wanindu Hasaranga.
4.Rajasthan Royals:
A thorough trial and domestic tournament selection process found promising young players for the Rajasthan Royals. Those who excelled in the Syed Mushtaq Ali, UP Premier League, and TNPL may be considered for senior roles. Batsmen like Sameer Rizvi, Abhimanyu Singh, Swastik Chikkara, Ashutosh Sharma, and Saurabh Chauhan will be considered. Their bank account is worth ₹14.50 crore.
5. Royal Challengers Bangalore:
Bowler Harshal Patel’s decision to be discharged caused controversy because of his major role in the team’s success. They will attempt to replace him with Mitchell Strac or Pat Cummins, two Australians. With a purse of ₹23.25 crore, RCB has significant potential to affect the dynamics of the bidding.
6. Sunrisers Hyderabad:
Possessing ₹34 crore in cash, the team may make significant offers and pursue Shardul Thakur and Harshal Patel hard. These players seem like sensible selections, especially in light of the dearth of Indian players in the starting lineup. However, the squad needs to bring in at least one experienced international fast bowler and another top-order batsman, preferably from India.
7. Mumbai Indians:
The team’s management has drawn criticism for selecting Hardik Pandya to captain the team instead of Rohit Sharma. The group will use their ₹17.75 crore in cash to try to figure out the best combinations during the auction. Players like Hasaranga, Manav Suthar, Ashutosh Sharma, and Darshan Misal remain among the group’s primary goals.
8. Punjab Kings:
The Punjab Kings, who have a ₹29.10 crore budget, will fight for players like Harshal Patel, Rachin Ravindra, and Shardul Thakur. Rachin Ravindra has a lot of potential if the company sticks to their regular strategy of following the trend, as there are only two spaces left for foreign players.
9. Kolkata Knight Riders:
The squad is among the highest paid in the IPL 2024 auction, with ₹32.70 crore in cash. The team is in dire need of some potent fast bowlers, so they will be optimistic as they assess players like Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins, Rachin Ravindra, and Harshal Patel. In addition, an Indian finisher or all-rounder has to be substituted for Shahbaz Ahmed, who was dealt to the Sunrisers Hyderabad.
10. Lucknow Super Giants:
To provide Mark Wood with a more capable fast bowling successor, the Lucknow Super Giants is considering players such as Starc, Hazlewood, and South African wonder Gerald Coetzee. Nandre Burger and Dilshan Madushanka are two great options in the left-arm pacer division. The team is also thinking about Ashutosh Sharma as a potential substitute for the unrestricted Indian batters. LSG has cash on hand of Rs. 13.15 crore.
