Jake Paul TKOs Ryan Bourland in round one

Jake Paul was encouraged to battle against boxers by those who had previously competed against him. In the first round, he was successful in defeating two of his opponents.

On Saturday night in San Juan, Puerto Rico, the YouTuber-turned-prizefighter TKOed Ryan Bourland at 2:37.

Paul struck the body early with his powerful right hand. A strong rope combo hurt Bourland. Paul tried his hardest, but referee Luis Pabon stopped it.

Puerto Rican trainer Paul received help. He was known as “El Gallo de Dorado,” the rooster. The crowd chanted “Gallo” during the entry and first round.

“In my postfight interview, I wanted it to be a little longer to give the fans some more time,” she said. “Puerto Rico makes me joyful. Your love is crazy.”

Jake Paul knocked off less-experienced journeyman Andre August in the first round in December.

Bourland lost 24–3 to Paul.

“I guess we just have to step it up even more,” Paul said. “I should major. Increasing my comprehension. I live this way.”

Paul refused to name his next opponent. He suggested Canelo Alvarez.

“Hey Canelo, stop ducking!” he shouted. You must want it. Your Mexico, my Puerto Rico. Puerto Rico vs. Mexico.”

Since Tommy Fury’s retirement in February 2023, Paul (9-1, 6 KOs) has won three straight. Following that setback, the Ohio native defeated UFC icon Nate Diaz by majority decision in August. Tyron Woodley and Anderson Silva lost against Paul, 27. Paul TKOed Woodley twice.

Bourland (17-3), 35, of California, lost his previous three fights to end his streak.

Jake Paul switched to orthodox boxing following the Diaz fight to gain experience and a title.

“If a money fight pops up, I’ll take it, because those are fun,” he said. “For now, I’m staying on the path of fighting real fighters and increasing the level of competition.”
