Jannik Sinner won the Australian Open 2024 on Sunday at the Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne, defeating Daniil Medvedev 3-6, 3-6, 6-4, 6-4, 6-3.
Jannik Sinner, 22, defeated a two-set deficit at Melbourne Park to win his first Grand Slam.
After five sets of play that lasted three hours and forty-five minutes, the Italian won, displaying his poise and will on the biggest stage.
Jannik Sinner became the first Italian to win the Grand Slam since Adriano Panatta in 1976. The world no. 4 defeated the ten-time Australian Open champion Novak Djokovic in the semifinals by dropping just one set.
The 22-year-old has defeated 10 opponents ranked in the Top 5 in his last 11 outings.
After winning his first Slam, Sinner faltered a little, but he stood up to thank the crowd for their constant support. He hugged his coaches in his box.

Rafael Nadal defeated Medvedev in a five-setter in the Australian Open 2022 final, leaving him the first player in history to lose two Grand Slam finals from two sets to 0 up.
Medvedev had to work hard during the competition because he only won one match in straight sets, whereas Sinner won all of his matches with ease.
After three five-setters, Medvedev reached the final.
