Jane Barnes posted on social media that Jimmy Barnes is “recovering in the ICU” following heart surgery. Barnes plays guitar.
On X, his husband wrote, “Hi, Jane Barnes. Photos from early morning. Jimmy, our friend, is healing well in the ICU after surgery. We appreciate his excellent medical care. I appreciate everyone.
Barnes said on social media that he was “going under the knife” for a deadly bacterial condition.
The rock star’s bacterial pneumonia should clear up in a few days.
“Despite everyone’s best efforts, the bacterial infection I’ve been battling over the last fortnight appears to have spread to my heart,” said Barnes in a tweet.
“It’s infected an otherwise healthy valve that was replaced some years ago due to a congenital defect, so I’ll be getting open heart surgery over the next few hours to clear out this infection and put in a clean valve.”
The 67-year-old praised his wife Jane, medical workers, nurses, and well-wishers.
David Campbell, a TV celebrity, was relieved that the problem was found and his father was in “great hands.”.

Jimmy Barnes was hoping to perform in December, January, and February, but the current report says the health setback will “take him out of action for a while.”.
