Josh Jacobs, the running back, will not be available for the Las Vegas Raiders on Christmas Day.
Due to a chronic quad injury and illness, Jacobs will not play for the Raiders in their Week 16 clash against the Kansas City Chiefs, per Tom Pelissero of NFL Network.
For this game, Las Vegas had three tailbacks available: Ameer Abdullah, Brandon Bolden, and Zamir White.
In 13 games in 2023, Josh Jacobs has amassed 805 yards on 233 rushes, six touchdowns, and 296 yards from 37 receptions.
If he plays well in a few games, he still has a chance to reach 1,000 yards for the fourth time in his career, even if these totals fall short of his league-high 1,653 rushing yards in 2022.
Bolden, White, and Abdullah have combined for just 222 yards and two touchdowns on 51 carries. On Monday, the depth will get a chance to show off its abilities against a tough division rival.
The Chiefs and Raiders will play their first game together at 1:00 PM ET.
Will the Raiders still be able to qualify for the NFL playoffs in 2023?
For the Raiders, this Week 16 meeting is essentially a “go big or go home” scenario. They are basically living on Christmas Day in terms of their chances of making the playoffs this year, seizing the last opportunity.
Before dominating the Chargers, they had lost three straight games, which hurt their chances of making the postseason.
The Raiders are now 12th in the AFC before the Chiefs game.
Given that the Raiders are ranked 1% by ESPN, a defeat to the Chiefs would virtually eliminate Las Vegas from the picture. Our NFL Playoff Predictor indicates that the Raiders have virtually no chance of making it to the 2023 NFL Playoffs.
After defeating the Chiefs, the Raiders must hope that Patrick Mahomes loses his superhuman abilities so that Kansas City struggles against the Chargers and Bengals.
