After winning three Grammys in 2024, including his first in 20 years, Killer Mike was rumored to have fought behind the scenes. After his arrest, he was charged with “misdemeanor battery.”
On Sunday night, an LAPD spokeswoman confirmed the 48-year-old rapper, real name Michael Render, would be released.
In a press release, “A male adult was detained and handcuffed on Sunday, February 4, just after 4 p.m., following a physical altercation that happened at the 700 block of Chick Hearn Court.”
The individual was arrested at LAPD Central Division. The perpetrator is 48-year-old Michael Render. Following his misdemeanor battery charge under PC 243(A) PC, he was discharged.
The Hollywood Reporter caught Los Angeles police holding and removing the 48-year-old rapper at Crypto Arena at the annual music awards. After a brief time of pure bliss, he wins three Grammys at the premiere ceremony: best rap song, best rap album for Michael, and best rap performance for Scientists and Engineers, featuring Eryn Allen Kane, Young Thug, and André 3000.
Render was having fun before his arrest. “The only thing that limits your age is lying about your age or what you’re doing,” he remarked privately.
He said, “When I was twenty years old, I thought it was cool to be a drug dealer.” When I turned forty, I began to regret my actions. At 45, I rapped about it. I realize my actions’ implications as a 48-year-old guy.

He said, “For all the people out there that think you get too old to rap, bullshit,” before the event.
“Make sure we keep hip-hop alive if you’re 78 and rapping about how many gals you got in the nursing home,” he joked.
A rapper spokesperson has not replied to demands for comment. The Hollywood Reporter sought to chat with his crew at the Grammys, but they declined.
