Kot Addu is the main district and the 70th largest city by population in the Punjab province of Pakistan. It has a population of 104,000. Kot Addu is an important economic city in southern Punjab, located east of the Indus River. The city is about 100 km from the famous historical city of Multan and 886 km from Karachi. The distance from the city to the Tonsa Barrage on the Indus River is about 16 km.
The Merani chief (chief) Addu Khan founded the city of Kot Addu in the 15th century. That is why it was named Kot of Addu (Addu da Kot), and later Kot Addu.
The Indus River contributes to the city’s scenic beauty. The Tonsa Barrage and the hotels and parks located on the barrage provide recreational space to the public. There are a few parks in the city, but the people of the city are deprived of public parks equipped with all major facilities.

Eight smaller canals that transport water from the Indus River through Kot Addu make this connection between Muzaffar and T.P. Link possible. Geographical conditions and climate
Kot Addu is in central Pakistan. Multan is the closest major city. Surrounding the city is a level, alluvial plain with an abundance of mango and citrus plantations. Canals also supply water to crops in the Muzaffargarh District. The monsoon season brings periodic flooding to Taunsa Barrage.
Kot Addu’s desert environment is characterized by pleasant summers and moderate winters. The city experienced Pakistan’s worst weather. 51 °C (129 °F) was the highest temperature ever recorded, and the lowest was -1 °C (30 °F). Rainfall is 127 mm (5.0 in) on average. In cities, dust storms happen frequently.

Corn, cotton, rice, sugarcane, tobacco, wheat, and vegetables like moong, mash, bajra, and mashoor are the main crops grown in the district. There are other oil seed crops grown there, including sunflower and mustard.
Mangoes, guavas, citrus, and pomegranates are Kot Addu’s principal fruit yields. Minor fruit crops such as dates, bananas, pears, jaman, and falsa are also farmed.
Another fruit found in the area is known as a bare (berry). It is among the most common fruits cultivated in this area. The crops are now scarce as a result of the flooding, particularly the products made of wheat and cotton. Thus, sugarcane currently covers most of the agricultural lands. Either this sugarcane is sold to sugar mills or it is used to make jaggery.
Industries
In the Punjab province, Kot Addu is a well-known industrial and commercial city. It is connected to all Pakistani airports via air from Multan Airport, as well as to Lahore, Karachi, Islamabad, Quetta, and Faisalabad via road and rail.
