LAHORE: The Commissioner’s Office of Lahore announced Tuesday that all businesses, including marketplaces and schools, will run normally on Wednesday. They cannot close without provincial authority.
The commissioner’s office informed the Punjab government that Lahore’s haze-reducing holidays will begin next week.
The official said, “The Punjab government would decide after reviewing remote work demands at offices and schools.

IQAir reports that Lahore’s PM2.5 concentration is 6.6 times the WHO’s yearly air quality recommendation.
This was shown when the Punjab government considered imposing limitations like those the coronavirus in Lahore had imposed to minimize air pollution in the provincial capital.
On Wednesdays, the government may shut down businesses and universities.
Under the new plan, government offices would function at half capacity on Wednesday, sources added. They said there was a suggestion to undertake speedy weekend checks, especially on Saturday and Sunday.
Heavy traffic causes most of Lahore’s haze, with industry emissions contributing only 7%.
The shutdown of factories that repeatedly flout regulations and the severe punishment of violators have also been discussed.
Monday through Wednesday had the greatest pollution levels ever recorded, according to regulators.
Commissioner Muhammad Ali Randhawa established a two-month work-from-home policy to eliminate pollution in Lahore Division.
In a meeting with firm owners, the commissioner and CCPO Bilal Siddiqui proposed market closure on Wednesday. After the discussion, the commissioner said:
The commission said traders accepted the anti-smog plan to close trading on Wednesdays.
“If they want, traders can open markets on Sundays,” the commissioner said.
