At the Shelby County Circuit Court on Tuesday morning, the civil action pertaining to the incident in which Ja Morant punched a child is still pending.
After testifying on Monday, Tee, Morant’s father, is back on the witness stand. Joshua Holloway, an adolescent who reported the event after the player attacked him, and Ja Morant’s close friend Devonte Pack are also scheduled to testify.
Ja Morant spent hours on Monday assisting lawyers in comprehending the incident that happened in July 2022 at a pick-up basketball game at his Eads home. During a “check ball,” Holloway allegedly threw a basketball at Morant, who then struck him. Morant demonstrated check-ball technique for Holloway and his legal team.

The hearing for the defense of self-defense immunity from prosecution is scheduled to last until Wednesday. A number of witnesses, including Trey Draper, Mike Miller, Pack—who is co-defendant with Morant in this case—and deputies from the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office, have also been served subpoenas.
In this case, Pack was charged with a crime following a deposition given by Holloway’s lawyer, Rebecca Adelman, during which Pack acknowledged hitting Holloway after Morant did. Even though Holloway is alleged to have fallen after Pack’s blow, some depositions claim that Morant’s blow was only a passing blow.
Morant was never charged with anything in connection with the incident, and Pack’s criminal case was dropped on November 21.
A hearing is scheduled for approximately one week before Morant’s expected return from his 25-game suspension. December 19th, against New Orleans, is when he can make a run at it. Taylor Jenkins, the coach of the Memphis Grizzlies, stated on Friday that he anticipates that Morant will be “full go” for that game.
The hearing on Tuesday is scheduled to begin at approximately nine in the morning. Follow along to receive real-time updates.
