Luke Littler, a teenage darts prodigy, has the opportunity to become the youngest World Darts Championship winner on Wednesday.
Thanks to an incredible run through the tournament, 16-year-old Littler—who is competing in his first big athletic event—has made it to the final at London’s Alexandra Palace, where he will take on Luke Humphries.
The unseeded player, who has already earned 200,000 pounds ($250,000) in prize money, defeated Rob Cross and Raymond van Barneveld, two former world champions.
That increases to 500,000 pounds ($630,000) if he defeats Humphries, who moves on to the title fight and becomes the number one fighter in the world.
Taking home this championship would be incredible. According to Littler, “I came here with the intention of winning one game and returning after Christmas, and I’m still here.” But I can’t even begin to imagine myself holding that trophy. All I have to do is be Luke Littler, calm, and focused.

The youngest contestant, Littler, has already made it to the final. In 2014, 24-time champion Michael van Gerwen made history by being the World Darts Championship’s youngest winner.
The British Darts Organisation’s worldwide darts competition saw 21-year-old Jelle Klaasen win.
The previous year, Littler had already established himself as a prominent figure in the sport by taking home the World Youth Championship. However, his performances at the World Championship caught many people off guard.
Whether he prevails or not, he will undoubtedly challenge Humphries for the highest honours in the future.
Furthermore, his notoriety has increased, attracting the attention of notable individuals who have trailed him, like Declan Rice of Arsenal and Aaron Ramsdale.
Although his boisterous fans enjoyed his on-stage performance during the event, his genuine nature off-stage has further enhanced his allure.
He said that he would stick to his present schedule when asked if he was ready for the big unveiling.
“I’ll have my ham and cheese omelette in the morning, followed by a pizza and some board practice,” remarked the person in question.
In his semifinal on Tuesday, Humphries defeated Scott Williams 6-0, and Littler triumphed 6-2 over the 2018 winner, Rob Cross.
After taking home three major titles in the two months leading up to the World Championship, Humphries was predicted to do well in the competition.
