As of late, there have been rumours circulating that Melissa Barrera will no longer play the major role in Scream 7.
It has been reported by The Hollywood Reporter that Barrera’s removal from the sequel was a direct result of her social media remarks against Israel and Palestine, respectively.
According to the news outlet, she linked the Israeli government’s “genocide and ethnic cleansing” to the Gaza Strip, in addition to its association with concentration camps. The Jewish community is something that she continues to care about and support.
Digital Spy contacted Melissa Barrera’s representatives to ask about the occasion. The production company, Spyglass Media Group, refuses to comment on the matter.
Barrera played the role of Sam Carpenter in the first two films in the Scream franchise. Sam Carpenter, who is the daughter of Billy Loomis, managed to flee the murdering spree that occurred in Woodsboro.
