The national flag carrier’s financial woes affected customers on Sunday as fuel shortages forced flight cancellations.
Local media said that PIA’s financial woes prevented it from procuring fuel for 26 flights today, canceling them.
According to sources, Pakistan State Oil (PSO) curtailed PIA fuel supplies, canceling Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, and other flights.
A PIA spokesperson said gasoline supply will be restored soon after an investigation. The spokesperson also noted flight-cancelled passengers get new itineraries.

Some regional media outlets indicate that the national flag carrier has canceled all flights due to oil shortages.
After a week-long halt, PIA resumed flights on Friday after collecting fuel funding.
Fifteen flights operated by the airline, each en route to a distinct destination from Karachi, encountered runway delays.

Flights PK 300, 308, 340, 301, and 369 between Islamabad and Karachi were also cancelled.
Additionally, flights PK 303 and PK 307 between Lahore and Karachi did not take off.
Similarly, three flights scheduled to depart today from Karachi to Lahore—PK 302, PK 304, and PK 306—were also forced to cancel.
In addition, the national flag carrier was forced to cancel six flights between Karachi and Gwadar, Bahawalpur, and Faisalabad, as well as the opposite direction.
Both the Sialkot to Muscat and Muscat to Sialkot flights were unable to take off.
Additionally, four flights that were scheduled to depart from Quetta via Lahore and Islamabad were canceled.
PK 288 and two PIA flights from Doha to Islamabad and back to Jeddah were cancelled.
