Apple has formally acknowledged that a flaw in iOS 17 is to blame for the overheating issues with the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max. A new issue arose before the iOS 17.1 patch, which the business is creating to solve the prior one.
Numerous consumers have complained that the NFC module in the latest iPhones is being ruined by wireless charging. Even if there aren’t many cases that have been reported, these kinds of situations do happen again.
Several people on the MacRumors forums and users on X have reported issues they had with the Apple Pay setup process. Apple Store employees suggested the NFC module malfunctioned after helping customers and exchanging their phones.

Over time, impacted customers noticed that utilizing BMW wireless charging pads seemed to cause the issues. Phones sometimes entered data recovery mode, making them noisy.

Most reports come from BMW customers who also own iPhone 15 Pros. The 2023 Toyota Supra owner who reported a similar Apple Pay issue on their iPhone 15 Pro was the exception.

If you drive a BMW and have an iPhone 15 Pro or 15 Pro Max, don’t use wireless charging until Apple and BMW figure it out. Even though the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus don’t seem to have the same issue, being cautious may be advisable.
