The Orlando Magic defeated the Los Angeles Lakers 120–101 on Saturday night. With 25 points, 10 assists, and 7 rebounds, Paolo Banchero led the Magic, and Franz Wagner chipped in with 26 points.
Anthony Black joined the Magic for the first time. With ten points, ten rebounds, and five blocks in his opening ten minutes at centre for Orlando, Goga Bitadze recorded a double-double.
With Wagner scoring 16 points and Banchero dishing out five assists, the Magic led 67-51 at the half.
The Lakers, led by Anthony Davis, finished the game with 28 points, 13 rebounds, and 7 blocks. James and Reaves each scored twenty points, and James also grabbed nine rebounds.
With 1:25 left in the third quarter, Banchero drove for a power dunk, drawing a foul call on Davis for his fourth. In each of the Lakers’ opening five games, Davis played a league-high 40.2 minutes, the most of any player in the league.
Orlando’s Banchero scored five points, and Black’s three-pointer gave the Magic a nine-point lead. Cole Anthony made a three-pointer to make the score 99-74 just before the third-quarter buzzer sounded.

With 4:04 remaining, Anthony made a 3-pointer to extend Orlando’s lead to 16 points after Davis had cut the deficit to 13.
Five days prior, the Lakers defeated the Magic 106-103 to end a seven-game losing streak in their home arena in Los Angeles.
Every team has players who are injured. Wendell Carter Jr. (finger), Markelle Fultz (knee), and Gary Harris (groyne) were all out of the game for Orlando due to injuries.
For the second straight game, the Lakers went with the same lineup of eight players until they ran out of players in the last four minutes of play. Among the players sidelined by injury for the game were Rui Hachimura (concussion protocol), Gabe Vincent, Jalen Hood-Schifino, Jarred Vanderbilt, and Taurean Prince (knee).
