A notice issued by the Ministry of Aviation on October 12 stated, “[…] Secretary Aviation has been pleased to exempt spouses of serving judges and Chief Justices of the Supreme Court of Pakistan from body searches at all airports.” This announcement was made in response to a request from the Ministry of Aviation.

Another item published in The News on December 16 said that Pakistan is in talks with a business based in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to install eGates at major airports. These eGates offer self-immigration services that are similar to those in developed countries.

Setting up electronic gates

The plan calls for eGates at Islamabad, Jinnah, Lahore, and Allama Iqbal airports. Immigration procedures are being streamlined to give passengers a seamless experience, like airports in Dubai, Birmingham, Edinburgh, etc.

These Pakistani airports now have eGates to help travelers bypass lines. Travelers will breeze through automated self-service immigration obstacles, much like in wealthy nations. Remember that only tourists with electronic passports can use this service.
