The Pakistani women will have completed both winning a series away from home for the first time since 2018 and sweeping a series outside of Asia and Ireland if they prevail.
The women’s squad emerged triumphant from their inaugural Twenty20 international encounter against New Zealand, winning by a margin of seven wickets.
All-rounder Aliya Riaz made a century off 22 balls today at the conclusion of Pakistan’s innings to set up a score of 137 for the loss of six wickets. Later in the game, Riaz was named Player of the Match.
New Zealand lost seven wickets in twenty overs at the University of Otago Oval, but they scored 127 runs in the end, losing by ten runs to the Green Team.
Muneeba Ali Siddiqi, a wicketkeeper, was Pakistan’s top scorer with 35 points, closely followed by team captain Nida Dar (14) and team captain Bismah Maroof (21).
Fran Jones, who was only nineteen years old, was New Zealand’s best bowler. In his four overs, he conceded 21 runs while taking two wickets.
The Kiwis found it hard to stay on the ball and chase it down after losing three wickets in the powerplay.
Even though Rowe and Georgia Plimmer scored two runs late in the game, the Kiwis’ valiant attempts to mount a rallying cry were ultimately in vain.
Fatima Sana claimed three wickets in her four overs, conceding 22 runs, while Sadia Iqbal claimed two wickets in her four overs, allowing 29 runs to be scored.
The third and last Twenty20 International of the series will take place in Queensland, the host state, on December 9.
