Pakistan’s PM, Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar, has invited Kenyan Dr. William Ruto to support a special joint probe into the shooting death of Pakistani journalist Arshad Sharif in Nairobi last October.
Kenyan police mourned Sharif’s death and blamed “mistaken identity” while searching for a car during an abduction investigation.

Kakar discussed the Sharif inquiry with Kenya’s president during the Belt and Road Forum in Beijing on Tuesday.
Pakistan’s PM requests Kenya’s president
Kakar’s office said “the Prime Minister also requested the Kenyan President for facilitation and finalization of the Special Joint Investigation Team report in the murder case of late Pakistani journalist Arshad Sharif.”
Sharif supported imprisoned former prime minister Imran Khan and criticized Pakistan’s strong military. A famous Pakistani primetime anchorman resigned on sedition charges in August after making derogatory remarks in an opposition interview.
ARY News and Sharif abruptly ended their eight-year anchoring association when Sharif questioned Shahbaz Gill, a key aide to former Prime Minister Khan.
Sharif was slain in Nairobi’s suburbs on October 23 after defying Pakistan’s warnings.
The announcement surprised Sharif-supporting Pakistanis and journalists.
Although the Kenyan police committed a “mistaken identity killing,” Pakistani investigators in Kenya found evidence that Sharif’s death was a targeted murder, according to the then-interior minister. Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah said Sharif’s corpse bore contusions and torture.
