According to numerous Australian media outlets, retired professional racer Rohan Dennis has allegedly been charged in connection with the passing of his wife Melissa Dennis, née Hoskins, a former racing cyclist.

Melissa Dennis was reportedly hit by a car on December 30 in Adelaide, Australia. She died from her wounds at the hospital the following morning. Rohan Dennis allegedly struck the woman with a ute, which is another name for a pickup truck in other countries.
According to the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC), Dennis was charged with driving carelessly, endangering his life, and operating a vehicle in a way that could result in death. Dennis was released on bond and is due in court in March.
Melissa Dennis, 32, won the 2012 Tour of Chongming Island, was a multiple Olympian, and was the world champion in the team pursuit. And she was pretty good on the road. She married Rohan Dennis in 2018 after retiring at the end of the year before. The couple has two children.
Rohan Dennis, 33, is a two-time world champion in the individual time trial. Having competed in two Tour Down Under seasons with Jumbo-Visma, he won a stage in 2023. At the end of the 2023 season, he announced his retirement from the professional circuit after eleven years of competition.
