Eight Indian Navy men were sentenced to death for espionage on Qatar secret submarine programme for Israel by a Qatari court.
Last August, Qatari officials imprisoned Indian Navy officers without disclosing any allegations.
Months later, eight Indians were revealed as Israeli spies. The Indian Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) was also interested in the “high priority” problem.

According to the available information, they were Al Dahra employees. It was assisting the Qatari government with a programme to acquire high-tech Italian submarines.
The company’s CEO was imprisoned in solitary for two months while trying to free the Indians, reports say.
After gaining consular access, the Indian ambassador to Qatar met the eight men earlier this month. India intently followed their trial, which concluded on October 26 with all of them receiving the death penalty.

On August 30, Qatar’s intelligence agency rescued the men from their houses at night. They worked for Qatari defence services supplier Dahra Global Technologies. They have been in solitary, denied bail, and sentenced to death. Qatari officials always did.
A Qatari national who controlled Dahra Global Technologies, which employed the eight Indians, was arrested but released on bond, according to media reports. The media said that Qatar claimed to have intercepted electronic communication showing that the imprisoned individuals spied for Israel on the Qatari navy’s radar-evading Italian midget submarine project.
