Regarding his age and condition, Roger Daltrey declared in a statement that “I’m on my way out.”
Eighty-year-old Baba O’Riley made his age and future plans public on March 1 when he resigned from his position as curator of the Teenage Cancer Trust (TCT) events at the Royal Albert Hall.
Roger Daltrey launched the event and has since raised around £32 million for NHS hospitals that care for children with cancer.
Daltrey told The Times he wished to “be realistic” about his absence.

Daltrey was almost ready to go, saying in The Times, “I have to be realistic.” Even if I live to an average age of eighty-three, we still need someone to operate the vehicles.
I have been a patron of TCT for almost thirty years, ever since I met Dr. Adrian and Myrna Whiteson. But I’ll be working in the back room, banging on cages and speaking with the police.

He recently stated that “how many words” he would need to learn for TCT concerts would make it more difficult to execute live.
“I really feel it tonight at 8.40 p.m., and we haven’t done anything in seven months, and this winter has been brutal,” he stated. I went off to sleep. In January, I had no voice.
“I live like a monk and would be fit as a butcher’s dog again if I went on tour for a week, but tonight, for the first time in my career, I think, ‘Blimey, this is hard.’”
Following Daltrey’s departure from TCT, the organization declared that other guest curators would assist with upcoming events in 2019.
