According to the White House, Israel and Saudi Arabia are moving closer to an agreement that might result in the two countries developing cordial relations after years of hostility.
In doing so, Biden intends to revolutionize the Middle East and increase his prospects of winning reelection. He wants Israel, a nation that has consistently persecuted and tormented Palestinians, to be formally recognized by Saudi Arabia, the guardian of Islam’s holiest sites.
John Kirby, a US National Security Council spokesman, said they plan to build on a foundation. He also noted that all parties must make concessions, as in any major accord.

The US wants KSA and Israel to establish diplomatic relations. Israel reached similar accords with Bahrain, Morocco, and the UAE.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and KSACrown Prince Mohammed bin Salman have hinted at deeper cooperation.
But in return for their accord with Israel, Saudi Arabia wants guarantees for its security, perhaps in the form of a treaty with the US.
The Palestinians emphasize that their interests should be considered in the interim. They contend that a two-state solution is the only path towards long-term peace in the Middle East.
