Shahid Afridi, the 43-year-old captain of Pakistan, dismissed worries over Shaheen Afridi’s health, arguing that a fast bowler is not allowed to play if they are injured.
Shaheen has lost some of his pace since recovering from his knee injury, but he is still a fantastic bowler; in the two Test matches held in Melbourne, he took eight wickets and was the main asset for the visiting team.
In addition, Shaheen’s expectations of himself based on his prior results were discussed by Shahid, who also emphasised Shaheen’s understanding of his importance to the squad.

“I never felt like Shaheen was in discomfort. It’s hard to bowl quickly when you’re injured. ESPN Cricinfo quoted Afridi as saying, “He understands his role and how important he is to the team.”
We expect a lot from the fast bowlers because of their past performances. In every game, we expect guys like Shaheen, Rizwan, Babar, and others to perform well. In cricket, it’s difficult to be consistently good at anything.
Fielding a good bench, according to Afridi, is just as important as starting an XI since it provides choices in case the players don’t perform as planned.
“I’ve always thought that we can’t make the best choices if our bench is poor. We shouldn’t be able to attribute Shaheen, Babar, or Rizwan’s subpar performance to a player’s absence—like we did with Naseem—because the A team ought to be just as good as the starting lineup. Until our bench is robust, we won’t have any more justifications,” he declared.
Afridi then talked about Haris Rauf, who thought playing white-ball cricket was more important than participating in the three-match Test series against Australia.
Rauf represented the Melbourne Stars in five Big Bash League (BBL) games, but Afridi believed that kind of pace might have been crucial in red-ball cricket on Australian soil.
Speaking to the media at the MCG, Afridi said, “I think Haris [Rauf] should be part of this side instead of [the BBL].” “With his pace in these conditions, he would have done well and had fun on the types of pitches that Australia had set up here and in Perth,” he said.
