When it comes to the T20I captaincy, former Pakistani captain Shahid Afridi has once again said that he prefers wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan to left-arm fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi.
At a function in Australia, Afridi publicly acknowledged his respect for Rizwan and stated unequivocally that his son-in-law, Shaheen, considered him to be the captain.
“I respect Rizwan’s degree of concentration and effort. His ability to ignore other people’s behaviour and concentrate solely on the game is his greatest quality and my personal favourite. He really is a fighter! stated Afridi.
“I hope Rizwan wins the T20 captaincy, but Shaheen was chosen captain by error.” Afridi made fun of the left-arm fast fan seated behind him.

Afridi’s direct remarks caused the audience to erupt in laughter, and everyone on stage, including Shaheen, Rizwan, and Harif Rauf, grinned.
The little fast bowler replaced the great batsman, Babar Azam, in November. The 23-year-old took 64 wickets in 52 T20Is.
In the Pakistan Super League (PSL), Shaheen captained the Lahore Qalandars and helped the team win the competition in 2022 and 2023.
Afridi has already questioned Shaheen’s leadership. He had before said that he had stopped Shaheen from becoming the Lahore Qalandars captain.
The 46-year-old former cricket player had suggested that his son-in-law relinquish the leadership role for a year or two so that he could focus more on his bowling.
