Seven more parties supported Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz President Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif. He defeated Omar Ayub Khan, the PTI‘s nominee for the Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC), on Sunday with 201 votes against 92. Sharif will become the twenty-fourth prime minister of Pakistan.
Following the announcement of the prime minister election results, Speaker of the National Assembly Ayaz Sadiq named Shehbaz Sharif the 24th Prime Minister of the 16th National Assembly of Pakistan as well as the House Leader of the Lower House.
The National Assembly convened an hour later. Hadiths, naats, and Pakistan’s national hymn were offered after the Holy Quran was recited. The NA hosted PMLN president Nawaz Sharif and PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.
Speaker of the NA, Ayaz Sadiq, said that Akhter Mengal and the JUI-F were not permitted to cast ballots in the National Assembly Hall.
The Sunni Ittehad Council held protests and open assemblies against the PDM 2.0, an eight-party alliance the PTI is expected to support in government formation. PTI said PDM leaders endorsed the mandate. Both PMLN and PPP dispute the claims.
The head of the IPP, Aun Chaudhry, showed up at Parliament House. During the National Assembly session, hundreds of police, Rangers, and FC troops have been assigned to maintain security within and outside Parliament.
The two most noteworthy are that regular guests are not allowed to enter Parliament House during National Assembly sessions, and cars are subject to check.
Ayaz Sadiq, the Speaker of the National Assembly, proposed MNA Jam Kamal, a former chief minister of the Balochistani state.
