Heinrich Klaasen‘s 83-ball 174 helped South Africa beat Australia to level the series at 2-2 before Sunday’s final.
On Friday, Klaasen hit 13 fours and 13 sixes at No. 5 in his fourth-highest ODI innings to help the Proteas score 416-5.
After leading South Africa to their third-highest ODI score, he was caught on the boundary rope on the penultimate delivery.

Cricket Australia cited coach Andrew McDonald as saying, “He’s going in for some more scans tomorrow to work out the details of (the injury), and then we’ll work out the management from there.” The recovery time is unknown.”
Klaasen and David Miller (82 not out in 45 balls) shared 222 runs for the fifth wicket. At 65, Van der Dussen hit 62.
Josh Hazlewood scored 279. Leg spinner Adam Zampa cost the most, with 0-113 in 10 overs. That included nine of South Africa’s 20 sixes.
Australia’s top batters were wicketkeeper Alex Carey (99 in 77) and Tim David (35). South African quicks Lungi Ngidi (4-51) and Kagiso Rabida (3-41) caused most of the damage.
Head dismissed right-handed Klaasen, a Pretoria native whose family was in attendance for his record-breaking century, for a second-ball duck in the third match of the series in Potchefstroom.
“I had a shocker of a day the other day in Potch, so it’s lucky to bounce back immediately and play an inning like that,” Klaasen told the on-field broadcaster. One of my best.”
