Tonight, Johnny Depp was one of the most prominent “celebrants” at the cremation of his close buddy Shane MacGowan, which took place this afternoon.
A few Pogues vocalists attended his funeral yesterday, including the Hollywood actor. It was live-streamed internationally and attended by 1500. A cathedral hosted it.
Johnny supported Shane’s widow, Victoria Mary Clarke, while his casket was burned.
Shane’s ashes will be thrown into the Shannon tonight.
Johnny and almost two hundred other mourners attended the official wake at the tiny Thatched Cottage Pub in Bally Common in the early morning.

Mr. Ryan drove the hearse and escorted the casket into the crematorium chapel.
Mr. Depp memorialized his friend and Pogues lead singer Shane MacGowan by touching his casket.

This Christmas, MacGowan’s Fairytale of New York will top the charts. MacGowan died last week after a long illness.

Hothouse Flowers frontman Liam O’Maonlai escorted Depp around the venue while they recited the prayers of the faithful.
The Pirates of the Caribbean TV actor had previously attended MacGowan and Victoria Mary Clarke’s wedding.
A large monochrome portrait of MacGowan, hidden by an Irish tricolor flag, was put next to his casket at the front of the church.
Depp touched the coffin and said farewell to his old friend.
Depp later assisted men in removing MacGowan’s coffin from the cathedral to wild acclaim.
After her husband’s memorial service, Ms. Clarke showed an album cover with Johnny Depp, a “huge fan” of The Pogues frontman.
She told the large gathering at his burial that her husband ‘wouldn’t keep a grudge against anyone’.

About 30,000 people waited in the street lines for the standing-only event. To accommodate mourners for the star’s burial and transport of his corpse, police closed up much of South Dublin.

Shane left South Lotts Road in a horse-drawn carriage, down Pearse Street, and into Westland Row, allowing his fans to say goodbye.
In remembrance of the late performer, the speakers played “A Rainy Night in Soho” and “Fairytale of New York” to the cheers of the grieving as they passed Dublin’s McMahon Bridge.
Fans showered flowers, and musicians played A Pair of Brown Eyes as the funeral procession passed Sweny’s pharmacy in central Dublin, which was described in James Joyce’s Ulysses.
Musicians performed Pogues’ Christmas classic Fairytale of New York with grieving people outside Sweny’s pharmacy in Dublin’s CBD.
When the funeral cortège stopped on Westland Row, the Artane Band played his well-known Christmas song, Fairytale of New York.
