Statue of Unity: Modi honours Sardar Vallabhai Patel on his birthday.

On October 31, National Unity Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi gave flowers to the Gujarati Statue of Unity in honour of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel‘s birth anniversary. 

At a ceremony at Kevadia, in the Narmada district, the prime minister gave the oath of unity to everyone in attendance. 

Mr. Modi witnessed a contingent of the Border Security Force and state police participate in the Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day) procession. 

Later on, the PM will address the legislature and introduce a number of development initiatives totalling Rs 160 crore.

on October 31, 2018, PM Modi unveiled the Statue of Unity, which drew inspiration from Sardar Patel.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah said on Tuesday that Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s unparalleled contribution has brought the country together from Kashmir to Kanyakumari.

Speaking at a celebration in New Delhi to mark the 148th anniversary of the birth of Sardar Patel, the nation’s first home minister, Mr. Shah called on all Indians to promise that by the time their country celebrates its centennial of independence in 2047, they will push their country to the forefront of the global stage in every industry. 


India as it is now is a result of Sardar Patel’s actions. From Kashmir to Kanyakumari, the entire country is unified as a result of his incredible labour. According to the Union Home Minister, we would not be in this position now if it weren’t for Sardar Patel’s vision and contributions.
