Tennis player Novak Djokovic shared his plan for retiring

At the Australian Open 2024, Novak Djokovic maintained his incredible form, defeating Adrian Mannarino 6-0, 6-0, 6-3 in straight sets to go to the Grand Slam quarterfinals.

Djokovic hasn’t yet displayed any signs of aging; he turns 37 in May. Actually, the Serbian star announced his goal to complete a “Golden Slam” this year shortly after winning three major titles in 2023.

As his 37th birthday draws near, rumors that he will retire are spreading. Many are interested in knowing when the Serbian will end his incredible career.

Djokovic said he will only consider retiring if he feels like a new player, so it may take time.

I’ve said several times in the past year that I wouldn’t give up tennis even if I were #1 and stayed that way. After defeating Mannarino, Novak Djokovic said, “I feel like I want to keep on going.”

“When I feel that I am not able to compete at the highest level with the guys and be a contender for a Grand Slam title, then I’ll probably consider going into retirement.”

Although the 36-year-old is dedicated to playing for as long as he can, he realized that things could change quickly because so much occurs outside of the game.

Naturally, things change. If everything is considered, much can change. My teen years are over. I’m a dad and spouse. I focus on and work hard on fascinating activities off the court. A job is a blessing, I agree. It will be monitored.

Djokovic will now play Taylor Fritz, the 12th seed, in the event quarterfinal. The previous year’s runner-up, Stefanos Tsitsipas, was handily upset by Fritz.
