“Thamar Al Tayyib 2023,” a bilateral naval exercise between Oman and Pakistan, concluded on Sunday, the Pakistan Navy announced in a statement. Through the exercise, both nations were able to advance their professional and interoperability skills.

Since 2002, the naval forces of Pakistan and Oman have been rehearsing the Thamar Al Tayyib exercise in the Gulf of Oman. The drill was being done for the tenth time. Because of their common marine region, the navy of Pakistan and Oman work closely together to uphold maritime law and order.

The regular conduct of the bilateral exercise Thamar Al Tayyib 2023, according to a statement from the Pakistan Navy, is proof of the close ties that the Pakistan Navy has with the Royal Navy of Oman in particular.

Pakistan’s fleet was comprised of the rapid-attack navy ship Quwwat, the Maritime Patrol Aircraft, and the enlisted helicopter-equipped naval ship Aslat. According to the navy, the exercise also included participation from the Pakistani Special Operations Forces.

The harbor phase and the marine phase were the two sections of the exercise. At the tactical and operational levels of the exercise, planning sessions and conferences were part of the Harbour Phase.

The statement read: “During the sea phase of the exercise, both navies conducted a variety of advanced operational exercises covering major aspects of maritime operations related to anti-air, anti-surface warfare, and counterterrorism exercises.”

It stated that in order to stop “illicit activities” at sea, the ships of both fleets engaged in Coordinated Patrol (CORPAT) as part of the exercise.

The Pakistani Navy stated, “Ex TAT-23 offered a means to enhance mutual learning, improve interoperability, and provide an opportunity for both navies to further hone their professional skills.”

Pakistan’s Army, Navy, and Air Force regularly organize and participate in international exercises as a way to strengthen defense ties with other countries, particularly those in the Middle East.
